 What is the point of the Preliminary Task?

The point of the preliminary task is to create and produce a front page and contents page, in which we will then later use to compare against are final product we will design and produce in the summer, we will do this so we can see how much we have improved.

EVALUATION

For my Preliminary Task I had to design and produce a school magazine. I decided to design a magazine that would help students revise, and it also can help them fill their time when they are not revising. I think the Magazine is targeted at a wide range of students who are trying to get the most out of their GCSE’s or A-levels.

When getting feedback allot of my peers said that they really like the fact that I used one large Medium Close up on my front cover. They also commented on the neat layout of both pages. I think the Masterhead was also very effective as it stands out and also matches the colour of the school blazers. I went for a smaller different text for the rest of the text as I thought it made the Masterhead stand out even more than it already did. To make the Front cover better I would have used more catchy sub titles as well as including a Strapline or Banners and maybe having more images.

I think the Contents page was well laid out and was very effective it and all the main conventions of an average contents page. I had good stories and the images related to the different sections of the magazine. The Contents page would have been better if the text was smaller as I could have had more sections and more images.
